Top 10 belly dances in Bollywood

Belly dancing is not that common in Bollywood but there are a few divas in the industry who have not only attempted it, but also managed to do a good job! Here’s a look at such top 10 actresses who have flaunted their belly.

Helen’s the dancing queen of Bollywood and no one can match her. She proves her mettle once again in Mehbooba O Mehbooba from Sholay where she gracefully combines belly dancing with a bit of cabaret. This song is as iconic as Helen herself.

Rani Mukerji is a good dancer but she surprised all with her belly dancing number in Aiyya. Apparently Rani learnt belly dancing in just two months from choreographer and good friend Vaibhavi Merchant. And boys are we impressed!

Katrina Kaif is more popular perhaps for her dancing rather than her acting skills. She knows she can move and she proved that with Sheila Ki Jawani. The song went on to become a chartbuster and Kats with her belly dancing moves wooed all! She became a sensation with this song and no contemporary actress (apart from Rani) can move her belly the way this lass does.

The sexy Zeenat Aman flaunted a hot body in this song from The Great Gambler. Though Raqqasa Mera Naam did have a few belly dancing movies, the focus was only on Zeenat. Need we say more?

After Shiela Ki Jawani, Kats once again proved in the song Mashallah that no one can really belly dance like her. Her moves and grooves in this song are sexy and Katrina has a way with her body that gets viewers enraptured!

It was all about flaunting the belly than really belly dancing for Mallika Sherawat in Mayya from the film Guru. But no one is complaining. Just by wearing the right costume and flaunting that stomach, we accept this as one of the good belly dancing numbers of Bollywood. Not that Mallika is not trying!

The Chaiyya Chaiyya girl proves that she can dance anywhere, from train tops to the dance floor. In this song from the film EMI, Malaika infuses belly dancing with a few Bollywood moves very gracefully.

Subtly blending Indian dance moves with a few belly dancing steps, Lara Dutta does this to perfection. As far as there’s a flat belly and some dancing, it becomes belly dancing for us!

In O Meri Jaan Main Ne Kaha from The Train, Helen’s dance needs no introduction. She’s the quintessential dancing diva and in her individualistic style, she proves that there can be no one like her.

Bebo can’t really dance and the little she has attempted at belly dancing in this song Marjaani from Billu Barber, must be given full credit. Kudos for her attempt!
